Configuring Internet Mail Support for Exchange

9. Start up Exchange. Do this by double clicking on the Inbox icon on the desktop. Alternatively, your computer may already be configured to load Exchange automatically at startup time.

10. Go to the Services... option on the Tools pull-down menu.

11. You will be presented with all the services currently available on your current Exchange profile. Internet Mail will not be on the list (if it is, then Internet mail support has already been installed at an earlier time!), so click on the Add button.

12. A list of available services will appear. If the installation of the Internet mail support has been successful, one of these options will be Internet Mail. Select Internet Mail, and click on OK.

The Internet Mail window contains all aspects of the E-Mail user from an Internet point of view. The General tab contains personal as well as mailbox information.

The Full name field should be set to the full name of the user of this machine.

The E-mail address field should be the name of this users E-Mail address on the Mailcoach machine, followed by an "@", followed by the site domain name (fully qualified domain name). See

The Internet Mail server field should contain the hostname of the server where Mailcoach is installed. If you have followed the instructions for setting up Mailcoach according to this documentation - enter Mailgate

The Password field holds the associated password for the account used when connecting to the Mailcoach machine. This is the field POP3 Password in Mailcoach user setup - general tab

14. The Message Format... button is used to specify how RTF documents are attached to an Internet mail message. It is preferable to tick the checkbox labelled Use MIME when sending messages.

15. The Advanced Options... button lets you specify a different server for SMTP.

16. Click on the Connection tab. The Connection tab defines parameters relating to the SMTP/POP3 connection between the E-Mail client computer and the Mailcoach server.

The Connecting to Internet Mail section should be set to Connect using the network

The Work off-line and use Remote Mail checkbox should be clear.

17. The Schedule... button enables you to customize the time interval between checking your mailbox on the Mailcoach machine. A value of 5 minutes is adequate.

18. The Log File... button is used mainly for debugging. This should be set to No Logging.

Click on the OK button. This concludes the configuration of Exchange
