Hosts setup - the connection tab

(First time setup - step 2:B)

This tab have different contents depending on the selection you made under the transport tab, the operating system you are using and whether RAS/DUN is installed or not as described below.

Protocol, select g protocol with timeout=12, Windows=3 and Package=64, for Modem connection. Select and t protocol with 50 seconds timeout if you use a TCP/IP connection.

If you selected TCP/IP and no RAS/DUN is available or you didnt select any RAS/DUN entry.

Enter the host-name to where the UUCP service is located, again which should be specified in the papers you got from your ISP. If connect via a proxy, you must setup a plug on port 540 in the proxy. The plug should connect to the ISP:s UUCP server, to the supplied host address and port=540. Locally Mailcoach should connect to the proxy, so set the hostname or IP-address of the proxy as Host to connect to.

If you selected TCP/IP and a RAS/DUN entry.

Host lookup timeout, set to 15 seconds. Enter the Username + Password that you got from your ISP. These are the details for connecting to the PPP access account, not usually the UUCP account.

If you selected Modem and is using Windows 95/98 or NT4/5

Select one from Windows previously created location and modem device.

Note! If you experience instability when Mailcoach dials with TAPI (=this menu is available), look at the section below for instructions to disable TAPI and use conventional modem handling. The above is most likely to happen with the original version of Windows95 and when using internal modems.

If you selected Modem and is using Windows NT3.51

This is the old style of modem setup. Choose the Modem-button, select a suitable modem (or something close to what you have), select Communication port COM1-COM16, set baudrate as high as your modem allows. Parity is usually None, data=8 and Stop-bits=1.

Note! You can force Mailcoach to use this style of modem handling by specifying /NT in the Mailcoach shortcut icon, i.e.
C:\mcmain\mcmain.exe /NT
