Setting up clients

(First time setup - step 5)

This chapter only describes common settings and terms used. Refer to the Support section for instructions on how to configure popular E-mail packages.

1. Find the IP number of the server (which you entered in the system setup in Mailcoach), for example 192.168.0.1, write it down on a paper.

2. Enter the User setup in Mailcoach - assuming you have entered your users in the database. Choose the first user, write down on his Pop3 account name, his E-mail address and POP3 password.

3. Go to the first client machine, install the E-mail software.

4. Start the E-mail software and search for some place to enter options, usually named: preferences, options or properties

5. As Mailserver, SMTP server, POP3server, server address or mail-host, enter the IP-address of the server, the one you wrote down - 192.168.0.1. (Note! There are a few mail packages that cannot handle IP-addresses in this field. See the note about HOSTS-file if this is the case)

6. As POP-account, POP3 account, POP3 name, Account name or Account, enter the POP3 account you wrote down from Mailcoach. NOTE! Eudora must have its POPaccount followed by @POPserverAddress, i.e. @192.168.0.1

7. As Return address, reply address, Your E-mail address or E-mail address, enter the complete E-mail address as it was specified in Mailcoach by specifying E-mail address and the domainname: smith@yourdomain.com

8. Save these settings and try send a mail to yourself. After 10 seconds, try receiving the mail.

9. If test succeeds, your done!
